Roadies Production Team finally reached the place they started their journey from after travelling across the country in search for Roadies. Yes, they reached the city that never sleeps – Mumbai. With 18 Roadies already selected out of the needed 20, Mumbai contestants had things tougher with slimmer chances of getting selected.
After all the hooliganism the production team witnessed in Delhi Auditions, they wanted to play it safe. Auditions in Mumbai were cancelled and once again they chose the online route to shortlist the prospective Roadies.
Easier said than done!! The team had to literally skim through 25000 odd entries to narrow down the list to hundred contestants. All these people went through a group discussion round and only 12 people got a chance to have a face to face conversation with Raghu and Rajiv, the infamous twin tormentors. Finally, just 2 people became the coveted Roadies. If you aren’t already boggled by all these numbers, let us take this opportunity to state another fact. Cracking roadies’ auditions is perhaps tougher than cracking the engineering or management entrance exams!!
Raghu and Rajiv had sky-high expectations from Mumbaikars who are daring, glamorous, smart and interesting. The city did not disappoint and the auditions were high on both drama and entertainment quotient. Mumbai auditions undoubtedly scored over the other cities.
Sufi Malhotra was interviewed twice (read the next article to know all the details of his melodramatic interview and Phoenix-like rise from ashes).
Sunny Thakur who was just not funny and was declared a ‘gay’ because of his nicely waxed body. The king of all was Ashish, the guy who had relentlessly prepared for two long years to become a Roadie. Will someone please tell him that all preparation fails in such a show? Here you get selected for who you are and not for portraying someone whom you want yourself to be. Bani, nicely put it, that he will now have to prepare for one more year to be a Roadie!! Multilingual Suzzanna Mukherjee was an instant hit with the judges.
Suzzanna and Sufi were clear winners in today’s auditions and this completes the mammoth size task of finding the Roadies.
Here’s another fairy tale story of a small town girl’s claim to fame. One desire changed her life and rest as they say is history. Roop Bhinder, till recently was a normal college going girl with limited exposure miles away from big bad city and now she is a ROADIE!! Life, indeed, is a bundle of surprises.
Success didn’t come easy to her; let’s clarify before all the sadists start blaming their luck. Roop earned it by first having the courage to dream about being a roadie putting behind all her small-town reservations and using all the resources at her quick disposal. She used Roadies battleground, an online game to make it to the real show. From screaming in the library, applying cow dung on her face, acting like a joker and asking people to kiss her, she has done it all. She was the first runner up in the Roadies Battleground. Aniket, who was nicely shown the door in Bengaluru audition was the winner.
Roop, true to her name is a pretty girl with a dazzling smile as Raghu complimented when she entered the interview room. She was calm and composed in the interview and the twin brothers were also surprisingly too sweet to be true in her case. I strongly think, girls win half the battle in the auditions with their good looks!!
Roop came across as a simple grounded girl with her values well in place. She stated clearly that she could go to any extent to win the show as long as her morals do not go for a toss. She completely refused to hook up with any guy in the show as a survival tactic. However, she had no issues with some white lies to save herself from elimination. Judges disagreed with her queer definitions of moral and immoral things in life. Raghu and Rajiv agreed that Roop would certainly fight another battle in the show apart from all the conspiracies and mind games and it would be a Moral Battle. There is a very thin and confusing line she has herself drawn between good and bad. They can already foresee the situations in which she will face this moral dilemma.

All those people who thought that only cute girls get the easy ticket to the adventure show, here is the cute guy to prove all such theories wrong or rather extend it to the other gender as well. Sandeep Singh is the second Delhi boy to get the chance of becoming a Roadie in the sixth season.
Sandeep Singh is a tall 19 year old guy with a very sweet smile. Even Raghu and Rajiv were smitten by his girlish, baby face! They remained nice to him throughout the interview and blamed it on his sweetie pie looks which forbade them from being rude.
Raghu was especially very impressed to know that this lad knew how to respect women and under no circumstances would use his masculine strength to physically hurt them. There was a question in the form which asked the people one thing they would refrain from doing as a task in the Roadies journey. Sandeep clearly mentioned that he would not hit any girl whatsoever even if that meant losing the final battle. Raghu tried to put him into moral dilemma but he stuck to his words. This helped him earn some brownie points from the judges for whom respect for women is paramount (Here’s a cheat code for all future Roadies aspirants
Sandeep, you played your cards well!

“The craze, madness and repo of being a Roadie, Makes me feel even I wannabe a Roadie“.

These words worked wonders for someone and guess what now she is a Roadie. Bobby Chopra is the next hell mate on the show for all the uninitiated.
Bobby Chopra is a 20 year old sweet, cute and funny girl with an ever smiling face. She is currently pursuing graduation through correspondence and as she mentioned in her now almost golden words a wannabe Roadie.
Her interview was short, simple and amusing to watch just like her. It mainly centered around the things she had written on her form. Raghu and Rajiv asked her to explain the strange and non-serious answers she had written in the form. At least 2-3 answers in the form had a mention of Raghu Sir (that’s how she addressed him in the interview!!).Bobby is either in complete awe or obsessed with bald Raghu.

According to Bobby, all the things that she has done in life are crazy. Her biggest weakness is that she does not have the ability to judge people correctly. I wonder how she will survive in the show where there is no mercy for sweet and simple people. She had written a very funny answer for the question on why she should be selected. She wrote that her sole aim was to fight with other Roadies. This answer infuriated the brothers and that was the turning point in the interview.

She is tall, pretty, smart, and confident and above all she is a Delhiite. Yes, she’s a proud Delhi Roadie, Neha Kapoor. A former air hostess who wanted to do some adventure in life has now found a perfect way of doing it. She was a delight to watch in the interview with her uber cool attitude.

Neha came across as a typical Delhi girl with just the right attitude to handle such hypertensive judges. Her answers were quick, sharp and witty and she did not really give Raghu and Rajiv a chance to grill her. Raghu with all these years of experience in judging people found few conflicting traits of her personality. Neha had mentioned in her registration form that she dislikes bitchy people whereas according to Raghu, she herself enjoys bitching sessions.
Her interview was short and at times she was a little overconfident too. She claimed to have not been able to figure out any weakness in herself. When questioned, she smartly turned things in her favor by saying that she did not want to reveal her weakness to them. The way she changed her statement instantly was funny as the judges are known to fret and fume at such hypocritical ways. Surprisingly, they laughed off and let go of this thing.

She totally took the audience by surprise with her little mono acting which she did on being asked to entertain. For those few minutes, nobody realized that she was only acting. It seemed that she was using this audition platform to give Raghu and Rajiv a taste of their own medicine by accusing them of hurting and humiliating people. Even Raghu was taken aback by that little act as he never thought that this was her way of entertaining them. Rajiv, however, admitted that he knew from the beginning that she was only acting. He took an instant liking for the girl and wanted her to be a part of the show. Raghu was’nt too sure and quoted that she had ‘typical Delhi’ in her.

For the first time in the daunting and adventurous journey of Roadies, a Sikh has also been chosen. The proud Punjabi and now a representative of Sikh community in this show is a young and tall lad Pradeep.
The interview session was fairly smooth for him as he gave most of the answers which instantly pleased the judges. Raghu and Rajiv noticed that Pradeep had filled the form without any sincerity. Raghu mockingly said that he had treated the form like a ‘party’ where he could do anything. Pradeep admitted that he had filled the form in utmost hurry and backed it up with a convincing statement that the true personality comes out in quick responses rather than well-thought and picture perfect answers.
Pradeep had mentioned in the form that he found girls fake. He explained that girls use sugar sweet words like ‘oh so cute’ countless number of times in a day. Pradeep had made another very strong comment in the form. The question was ‘What according to you makes you cool?’ and his answer was the fact that he is a Punjabi makes him cool. He further wrote that Punjabis are born cool. This gave judges a chance to put him down but here again he came out clean and unscathed with his impressive answer. He attributed his coolness to his parents and called them cool.

Finally the casting team of Roadies reached the capital city and many firsts were added to the credit of Roadies Production House. History was created when the auditions had to be cancelled. An absolute chaotic situation happened in the Delhi when people started coming to the venue a night before the auditions. This city definitely seems to be in the grip of Roadie Fever BIGTIME!
The venue was thronged with more than 6000 people and that was way beyond the capacity of that place. A mob like situation was created and some local miscreants took advantage of it to create vandalism. Many young guys joined in this act of hooliganism and destroyed the property. The situation became worse and the police had to take the matter in their hands to restore normalcy. They immediately lathi charged all the young boys and some even got beaten black and blue. This incident got massive coverage from news channels .Keeping in view this display of rampage and malicious destruction, producers called off the auditions.
But the show must go on and it did. The team found another way of finding Roadies from the city which has been an indispensable part of Roadie Journey in the last five seasons. For the first time, Roadies auditions went online and the organizers took up the tedious task of actually going through all the entries and shortlisted almost 100 people from the long list of applicants.

Sonia Chauhan is the fourth finalist from Chandigarh. Sonia is smart, sexy, sassy and seemingly has all that it takes to be a Roadie. She was the last person to be interviewed and as they say patience pays. Raghu and Rajiv were happy to have her around in the auditions.

Sonia kept up with the spirit of the show and dressed in extremely casual clothes. She looked athletic and adventurous in her simple T shirt and shorts flaunting her long and well shaped legs!! Sonia hails from the city of Himachal Pradesh and is currently studying in Chandigarh.
Sonia had just the qualities the brothers apparently seem to be on a look out for. She is bold and this can be reaffirmed from the fact that she is into a live in relationship and has been staying with her boyfriend from quite some time. She had absolutely no qualms or hesitation in talking about her live in relationship. She gave the impression that she is a girl of today.
On the contrary when Raghu asked her opinion on one night stand, she totally disregarded it as socially, morally and culturally incorrect. She tried to explain her point to the judges. Even when the twins tried to convince her that one night stand and live in relationship are both equally looked down upon in the society, she remained firm on her opinion. She appeared to be a nice confluence of conservatism and broad mindedness.
According to her, the biggest weakness that she is trying to overcome is her temper.
Her aggression can be gauged from the incident when she punched her boyfriend. Poor guy’s only fault was that he had invited her friend for dinner in her absence. She also told that she is very possessive about the people who care for her.

Here’s the third Roadie from the city of Chandigarh – Tamanna, a beautiful girl with absolutely no iota of intelligence. She is just plain pretty and that’s the only reason she is in the show. Undoubtedly, TRP matters even in this youth-centric reality show. Did the producers forget that this show is all about adventure and not about hot black dress and manicured nails!
Tamanna, a student of Dental surgery was a complete bimbo in the show. She doesn’t like reading newspapers and gave those surprised looks as if that’s the last thing she would do in life. She took almost 15 minutes to tell something about herself and even after all this time she could only come up with something as silly as ‘Mera naam Tamanna hai’ which she nicely repeated twice. She is one Roadie who knew nothing about herself as on further probing also she talked about things like she likes dogs and other forgettable things, which are so unlike a Roadie talk.
For all the boys who went head over heels in love with her, this girl has as experience of three timing and calls herself bold. Her fake accent which was a bad combination of Punjabi and English was put on and an instant put off for me. The brothers noticed it and commented that the way she rolled her tongue to get that extremely displeasing accent was her way of copying things she liked. The way Raghu and Rajiv imitated her put on accent was absolutely funny. For the fake attitude she tried to throw, she had to bear the wrath of the brothers who came heavily on her. She was even compared to a Rickshaw driver and that illiterate man’s accent was called better than hers.

A high school dropout, a self confessed complete failure, doors have always been slammed at his face, success has evaded him in all those twenty something years of existence and yet there is one thing which now sets him apart from the rest – HE IS A ROADIE. Let’s introduce the next Chandigarh Roadie, Ankur Khanduja.

Ankur Khanduja with weird freaky hair and free size clothes struck a chord with the twin tormentors with his dire honesty. He bared it all about his failures in life and that he had been a complete disappointment for his parents. The recital of his sad past coupled with betrayal from his friends got a tad too long.

Ankur admitted in the interview that he was tensed. In true Indian middle class family style his mother had asked him not to lose this opportunity as if this was the last hope in his life. It seemed that he was going through immense pressure and unlike others who only worry about facing the judges; he had an additional pressure of facing his distraught family. He created an impression that his parents had almost given up on him. The judges were moved and rightly pointed at the mental trauma young children go through because of constant nagging from parents. Rajiv even wanted to reach out to this guy and tell him that he is not a loser and life has just begun for him.
